Short Brake Shoe Retracting Spring
6. Install the short brake shoe retracting spring.
a. Place the brake shoe adjusting lever cable over the anchor pin, with crimped side in.
b. Install the short brake shoe retracting spring.
Brake Shoe Adjusting Lever Cable
7. Install the long brake shoe retracting spring.
NOTE: Make sure the brake shoe adjusting lever cable is positioned in the cable guide groove.
a. Install the cable guide.
b. Position the brake shoe adjusting lever cable in the cable guide groove.
c. Install the long brake shoe retracting spring.
Brake Shoe Adjuster Screw
8. Assemble the brake adjuster screw assembly.
NOTE: To prevent incorrect installation, the socket end of each brake adjuster screw is stamped R or L.
a. Apply Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A (Motorcraft WA-10) or an equivalent silicone compound
meeting Ford specification ESE-MlC171-A.
b. Install the (A) brake adjuster screw into the (B) brake shoe adjusting screw nut to the end of the threads, and then loosen one-half turn.
c. Install the brake shoe adjusting screw socket on the brake shoe adjusting screw nut.
