ON 6.8L VEHICLES ONLY, A NEW SEPARATOR PLATE (F7UZ-7A008-AA) MUST ALSO BE INSTALLED.

Follow all normal service procedures as outlined in the 1997 Econoline Workshop Manual for transmission disassembly and reassembly.
5.
If the ticking noise does not go away in manual 2nd, do not update the transmission hardware or calibration. Refer to the Workshop Manual,
Noise, Vibration and Harshness, Section 100-04, for further diagnosis.
NOTE:
BOTH ENGINE APPLICATIONS REQUIRE NEW CALIBRATION UPDATES. REFER TO THE PCM APPLICATION CHART FOR THE
NEW CALIBRATION NUMBER.

PCM REPLACEMENT IS NOT AUTHORIZED BY THIS TSB. REFER TO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL/EMISSIONS DIAGNOSIS
(PC/ED) SERVICE MANUAL FOR APPROPRIATE DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES IF HARDWARE CONCERNS EXIST.
Obtain an Authorized Modification Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of
modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized
Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
