17. Remove the bolts retaining the oil pump screen cover and pickup tube and allow it to drop into the oil pan. Also remove the tube and spacer and
allow it to drop into the oil pan. Remove the oil pan.
18. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools
cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to clean the sealing surfaces.
Clean the mating surfaces for the oil pan and the engine with silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the
packaging.
Installation
1. NOTE: The oil pump screen and pickup tube must be in the oil pan when the oil pan is positioned in the vehicle.
Position the oil pan gasket and the oil pan in the vehicle from the rear of the engine.
