Oil Pick Up/Strainer: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR
NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND CAN BE
IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY. FUEL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM REMAINS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE
EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the vapor management valve.
4. Remove the engine air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet tube.
5. Partially drain the radiator and disconnect the radiator upper hose at the radiator.
6. Remove two screws at the top of the fan shroud and position the fan shroud toward the engine.
7. Remove the throttle body.
8. Remove the nut retaining the transmission filler tube at the rear of the RH cylinder head and position the tube aside.
9. Raise and support the vehicle.
10. Drain the engine oil, and remove the oil filter.
11. Remove the nuts retaining the front engine support insulator to the front engine support bracket. RH shown, LH typical.
