Figure 20 - Choke Tube
If the choke tube is not blocked or damaged, shorten the tube inlet to the exhaust manifold by cutting 1/8" off the inlet (see Figure 20). If the tube is
damaged, install a new choke tube (E4TZ-9817-C for calibrations 9-77J, 9-77S, and 9-78J; E4TZ-9717-B all other calibrations).

Reinstall the choke tube into the manifold only, then disconnect the fresh air tube at the carburetor (Figure 21). Confirm that the system is free of
blockage by blowing through the fresh air tube to the carburetor and tighten to 66-96 in.lbs. at the carburetor fitting. Also reconnect the fresh air tube at
the carburetor.
