Engine Mount - Rattle From Left Hand Side

NOISE - RATTLE FROM LEFT HAND SIDE OF ENGINE (VEHICLES BUILT FROM 11/1/84 TO 5/1/85 WITH 4.9L ENGINES)

LIGHT TRUCK 1984-85 E, F SERIES, BRONCO

A rattle noise coming from the left hand side of the vehicle may be caused by the clearance between the engine mount retainer pin and the engine mount.
This concern can be corrected using the following procedure.

1.

Remove the left hand engine mount per the procedure in the Light Truck Shop Manual, Section 21-11.

Compress the engine mount using a "C" clamp or a vise so that there is clearance between the head of the retainer pin and the engine mount. (See
Figure 29)

3.

Clean the area under the retainer pin head. Fill this area completely with Silicone Rubber (D6AZ- 19562-A or B) and let it cure for 5 minutes
before unclamping the mount.

4.

Reinstall the engine mount per the procedures in the Light Truck Shop Manual, Section 21-11 and let stand for 3O minutes to allow the silicone
rubber to cure.

5.

Redrive the vehicle to verify the concern has been fixed.
