If the body builder is not equipped to perform this recall, the delivering dealer should make arrangements to perform the recall service.
TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS:
If any of the inspection or repair procedures in this recall are subcontracted to an outside shop, you must provide a copy of these instructions to that
shop. Be sure that the repair shop understands these procedures.
ATTACHMENT 1 SAFETY RECALL 481
The following procedures apply to all affected vehicles.
1.
Raise vehicle on a hoist and locate the manufacturer and build date code on the inboard side of the rim. Refer to the attached illustration. If the
wheel manufacturer is Firestone and the build date is November 7 through November 23, 1983, replace the wheel. Wheels made by another
manufacturer or having other date codes are not involved in this recall.
2.
Lower the vehicle and inspect the spare wheel in the same manner.
3.
Remove the tire(s) and hold the suspect wheel(s) for disposition instructions.
4.
Paint replacement wheel and install the original tire on replacement wheel.
