Cruise Control Servo: Testing and Inspection
1.
Disconnect cable from throttle body (if equipped), then electrical connector at the amplifier.
2.
Connect an ohmmeter between orange/yellow and gray/black wires at connector. A resistance of 40 to 125 ohms should be obtained.
3.
Connect an ohmmeter between orange/yellow and white/pink wires. A resistance of 60-90 ohms on 1987-89 models or 60--190 on 1990-92 models
should be obtained.
4.
If equipped, connect cable to throttle body.
5.
Start engine and ensure servo vacuum from engine exceeds 2.5 inches of Hg, then disconnect servo from amplifier.
6.
Connect orange/yellow wire of servo to battery positive terminal and white/pink wire to ground, then momentarily touch gray/black wire to
ground. Servo throttle actuator should pull in and engine RPM should increase. Throttle should hold in position or slowly release tension.
7.
Remove white/pink wire from ground and check for immediate release of chain tension from servo.
8.
If servo fails to function as described, replace servo. Amplifier may need replacement if orange/yellow wire is shorted to either white/pink or
gray/black wire.
