Removal and Installation

CAUTION:  While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of
the power steering components may result.

NOTE:  The hydraulic booster jumper line and the power steering pressure line can be serviced separately. It is not necessary to disconnect the
jumper line from the hydraulic booster when servicing the power steering pressure line.

All vehicles 

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Using a suitable suction device, remove the power steering fluid from the reservoir.

All vehicles except 6.0L Diesel 

3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

6.0L Diesel vehicles 

4. Remove the cooling fan stator. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.
5. Remove the power steering pump pulley.

All vehicles

6. NOTE:  Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads.

NOTE:  The hydraulic booster jumper line and the power steering pressure line can be serviced separately. It is not necessary to remove the
jumper line from the hydraulic booster when servicing the power steering pressure line.

Disconnect the power steering pressure line-to-hydraulic booster jumper line fitting.

To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) 

7. Unclip the power steering pressure line from the pressure line bracket.

8. NOTE:  Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the threads.

Disconnect the power steering pressure line-to-pump fitting.

To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.) 

9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Fill the power steering system.
