For diagnosis of code P1636 refer to system being tested:

Engine Control

Refer to Note 14:

NOTE 14:  DTC P1636 indicates the PCM has lost communication with the Inductive Signature Chip. Replace PCM. If replacement is necessary
refer to Flash Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM).
