E 350 1 Ton Van V10-6.8L VIN S (1997)
1.
Remove the three (3) converter front flange retaining nuts and discard the nuts. See Figure 4.
2.
Separate the converter from the exhaust inlet pipe.
3.
Loosen the converter-to-muffler clamp nuts and position the clamp rearward.
4.
Separate the converter from the muffler and discard the clamp.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to heat the converter-to-muffler joint in order to aid in the removal.
5.
Clean the exhaust inlet pipe flange gasket surface.
B. Installation of New Converter
1.
Position the new converter-to-muffler clamp and install the new converter (with Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) mounting hole) into the muffler.
2.
Install a new gasket and the converter onto the exhaust inlet pipe.
3.
Install three (3) new front flange retaining nuts. Tighten the nuts to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
4.
Position the converter-to-muffler clamp. Tighten the clamp nuts to 56 Nm (41 lb-ft).
C. Installation of CMS and CMS Wiring Harness
1.
Install the new Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS). Tighten the CMS to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
