A/C - AUXILIARY A/C LIQUID LINE ROUTING ON 4.9L ENGINES BUILT PRIOR TO JUNE, 1984
LIGHT TRUCKS 1984 & PRIOR ECONOLINES
Improper routing of the auxiliary liquid lines on Econolines with 4.9L engine may result in a loss of refrigerant due to melting of the line where it
contacts the automatic choke heat tube. This may be corrected in the following manner:

Install a new liquid line and route it as shown in Figure
37.
Then leak test, evacuate and charge the system.
Also, when any of the subject vehicles are returned for service, inspect to assure that the liquid line is correctly routed as shown in Figure 37. If the liquid
line is not cor-, rectly routed as shown, inspect the liquid line in the area of the automatic choke heat tube for damage. If the liquid line is damaged,
replace the liquid line and route it as shown in Figure 37. If the liquid line is not damaged, reposition the line to the routing shown in Figure 37. The
repositioning of a line that is not damaged should be performed without discharging the system.
