IDLE - ROUGH/POOR FUEL ECONOMY/ENGINE NOISE (5.8L (W)) - INOPERATIVE INTAKE MANIFOLD HEAT CONTROL VALVE

LIGHT TRUCK 1985-86 E AND F SERIES, BRONCO

The subject concerns could be caused by an inoperative intake manifold heat control valve. The control valve butterfly plate may have become loose or
detached from its shaft.

For servicing such a condition, the following procedure is recommended:

1.

Remove the intake manifold heat control valve assembly, located on left side (near rear) of intake manifold.

NOTE:

It is not necessary to remove carburetor.

2.

If the heat control valve is found inoperative or damaged, replace with valve (E4TZ-9G464-A).
