Less Air Conditioning
1.
Remove battery from vehicle. On models equipped with dual batteries, remove passenger side battery only.
2.
Disconnect resistor wiring harness, blower motor lead wire and blower motor ground wire.
3.
Drain coolant from system and disconnect heater hoses from core.
4.
Disconnect strap attaching hoses to blower assembly, Fig. 20.
5.
Remove five heater mounting screws from inside of vehicle and remove heater assembly.
6.
Remove case seal from face of case and remove retainer.
7.
Slide core and seal assembly out of case.
8.
Reverse procedure to install.
With Air Conditioning
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Disconnect electrical connectors from resistor on front face of A/C blower scroll cover.
3.
Disconnect vacuum line from outside recirculation door vacuum motor.
4.
Remove A/C blower cover attaching screws and the cover.
5.
Remove push nut, vacuum motor arm and washer from outside-recirculation door shaft.
6.
Disconnect control cable and slide over bracket, then remove cable clip from blend door shaft.
7.
Remove A/C blower motor housing attaching screws and the housing.
8.
Remove blend door.
9.
Disconnect and plug hoses from heater core.
10.
Remove heater core bracket attaching screws and the brackets.
11.
Remove heater core and seal.
12.
Reverse procedure to install.
Auxiliary Heater Core
1.
Remove first bench seat, if equipped.
2.
Remove auxiliary heater and/or A/C cover attaching screws and the cover.
3.
Remove heater core retaining strap, then disconnect and plug hoses from heater core.
4.
Disconnect electrical connector from heater core seal.
5.
Slide heater core and seal assembly out of housing slot.
6.
Reverse procedure to install.
