Camshaft: Testing and Inspection
Journal

Camshaft Journal-Clearance, Plastigage Method

NOTE: The camshaft journals must meet specifications before checking camshaft journal clearance.

1. Remove the camshaft bearing cap.

2. Lay Plastigage across the face of the camshaft bearing surface.

3. Position the camshaft bearing cap and install the bolts in the sequence indicated.

NOTE: Do not turn the camshaft while doing this procedure.
