Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal

Removal
1. Remove the transmission.
2. Remove the bolts, spacers and flexplate.
3. CAUTION: Do not bend the rear retaining plate during crankshaft rear oil seal removal.
Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal retaining bolts and the crankshaft rear oil seal.
4. Inspect the crankshaft rear oil seal, wear sleeve and alignment dowel pins for damage. Install new as necessary.
Installation
1. NOTE: The crankshaft rear oil seal and wear sleeve are installed as an assembly.
Apply RTV Silicone Sealant F5TZ-19G204-AB, or equivalent meeting Navistar specification D15-5012 Type 2 to the rear oil seal retaining ring
and the crankshaft rear oil seal retaining bolts.
