2005 Escape Hybrid
ISSUE
Some 2005 Escape Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a caution (wrench) lamp on and diagnostic trouble code POA1F in the powertrain control module
(PCM), and/or the traction baffery control module (TBCM).
ACTION
Reprogram the TBCM to the latest calibration. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

WARNING
THE BATTERY CONTAINS HIGH-VOLTAGE. HIGH-VOLTAGE INSULATED SAFETY GLOVES AND FACE SHIELD MUST BE WORN
WHEN COMING IN CONTACT WITH THE HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY.
CAUTION
BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY REPROGRAMMING TO THE TBCM REMOVE THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY SERVICE DISCONNECT
FUSE, PLACE THE FUSE IN THE POSITION LABELED "SERVICE" ON THE FUSE LABEL.
1.
With the key in the OFF position, remove the high voltage baffery service disconnect fuse, and place it in the "Service" position.
2.
Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
3.
Reprogram the TBCM to the latest calibration using WDS release B36.2, Patch 3 or higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
4.
Turn ignition key switch to the OFF position.
5.
Place the high-voltage service disconnect fuse in the position labeled "Lock".
6.
Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
7.
Using WDS, clear DTCs in all modules.
