Fuel Pressure Control Solenoid: Description and Operation
Fuel Pressure Regulator Control Solenoid
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Solenoid Vacuum Valve
PURPOSE
The Fuel Pressure Regulator Control (FPRC) adjusts the amount of vacuum applied to the Fuel Pressure Regulator. This is done to enrichen the
fuel mixture for prevention of fuel percolation on hot starts and allows more fuel for starting.
OPERATION
During hot starting, the FPRC cuts off manifold vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator. This permits an increase in fuel pressure resulting in more
fuel for starting. After the engine is started, vacuum is returned to the pressure regulator and fuel pressure is lowered to regular operating pressure.
NOTE: Pressure in the Fuel Injection Manifold increase as engine vacuum drops and decreases when manifold vacuum is high.
