6. Remove the bound stopper seat and stopper from the shock/strut piston.

Rear Shock/Strut Assembly-Assembly

1. Position the shock/strut assembly into a vise and secure.

2. Install the bound stopper and seat onto the shock/strut piston rod.

3. Install the coil spring onto the shock/strut assembly.

4. Install the mounting block, then align the mounting block studs and the lower bracket of the strut assembly.

5. Install the retainer, washer and piston rod nut. Tighten the piston rod nut to 55-68 N.m (41-50 lb-ft).

6. Be sure that the spring is properly aligned and carefully release the spring into the seats of the strut.

7. Remove the spring compressor from the coil spring.

8. Install the cap.

Installation

Rear Shock/Strut Assembly Installation

1. Position the rear shock/strut assembly into the vehicle wheel housing.

2. Install the mounting block nuts. Tighten the mounting block nuts to 29-40 N.m (22-27 lb-ft).

3. On hatchback and wagon models, install the quarter lower trim panel.

4. Install the nuts and bolts securing the rear shock/strut assembly to the rear spindle assembly.

5. Tighten the lower rear shock/strut nuts to 93-127 N.m (69-93 lb-ft).

6. Install the clip securing the flexible brake hose to the rear shock/strut assembly.
