IDLE SPEEDS - 1.9L - UNNECESSARY THROTTLE BODY IDLE ADJUSTMENTS

FORD:

1991 ESCORT

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1991 TRACER

ISSUE:

Adjustments to the base (hardstop) idle RPM are not recommended because they are not effective repairs for driveability concerns.
Improvements in the calibration for 1991 make such adjustments unnecessary.

ACTION:

Do not attempt to make throttle body idle adjustments. If service is required, refer to the procedures listed in the 1991 Engine/Emissions
Diagnosis Shop Manual, Section 2, to determine other possible causes for driveability concerns.
