Control Arm: Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove stabilizer bar nuts, washers, bushings, sleeves and bolts.

2.

Remove lower control arm front bushing bolt and washer, then remove bolts securing lower control arm rear bushing retaining strap.

3.

Remove nut and bolt securing lower ball joint to steering knuckle, then separate steering knuckle from lower ball joint.

4.

Remove lower control arm.

5.

Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Torque lower control arm pivot bolt nut to 69-86 ft. lbs.
b. Torque ball joint retaining bolt and nut to 32-43 ft. lbs.
c. Torque lower control arm rear bushing retaining strap bolts to 69-86 ft. lbs.
d. Torque lower control arm front pivot bolt to 69-93 ft. lbs.
e. Install stabilizer bar bolts, sleeves, bushings, washers and nuts and tighten so that .67-.75 inches of thread is showing.
