Spindle: Service and Repair
With Drum Brakes
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheel.
2.
Remove cap from rear wheel hub, then remove rear brake drum.
3.
Remove nut securing rear wheel hub to rear wheel spindle, then the hub from the spindle.
4.
Remove drum brake backing plate from spindle.
5.
Remove nuts and bolts securing rear shock/strut assembly to rear wheel spindle.
6.
Remove bolt and washer securing rear trailing arm to rear wheel spindle.
7.
Remove rear stabilizer bar as described under REAR STABILIZER BAR.
8.
Remove nuts and bolts securing front and rear lateral links to rear wheel spindle, then remove spindle.
9.
Reverse procedure to install. Torque rear wheel spindle to rear shock/strut assembly bolts and trailing arm to spindle bolt to 69-93 ft. lbs. and
front and rear lateral links to spindle to 63-86 foot lbs.
