Top Gear Shaft: Service and Repair
5TH GEAR SHAFT ASSEMBLY
DISASSEMBLY
5th Gear Shaft Assembly
1. Remove slip fit bearing and 5th gear blocking ring from shaft.
2. Remove 5th gear synchronizer assembly.
3. Remove press fit bearing from shaft using tool No. D79L-4621-A.
ASSEMBLY
NOTE: Clean, inspect and lightly coat all parts with transmission fluid prior to reassembly.
1. Press bearing on fifth gear shaft.
2. Install 5th synchronizer assembly and plastic insert retainer.
3. Install blocking ring and slip fit bearing on end of shaft.
