SYSTEM INSPECTION/MODIFICATION INSTRUCTIONS
AFFECTED VEHICLES:
Certain 1986 Model Escort Lynx/EXP Emissions System Modification - 1.9L engines with Calibration Codes 6-08A-R25, R27 and R28
Important Inspection Instructions
The vehicles involved in this recall are also involved in Emissions Recall 86E55 (those with engine calibration 6-08A-R25) or Emissions Recall 91E17
(those with engine calibrations 6-08A-R27 or 6-08A-R28). This service procedure requires engine emission control systems inspection to assure that
Emission Recalls 86E55 and 91E17 are completed.
Inspection Instructions
1.
Verify engine calibration.
2.
If engine calibration is 6-08A-R25:

Obtain a copy of Emissions Recall 86E55 and 91E17.

Audit the engine emissions control system to assure that Emissions Recall 86E55 and 91E17 service has been performed.

Provide 86E55 and/or 91E17 service. if necessary.
3.
If engine calibration code is 6-08A-R27 or 6-08A-R28:
^
Obtain a copy of Emissions Recall 91E17.
^
Audit the engine emissions control systems to assure that Emissions Recall 91E17 service has been performed.

Provide service, if necessary.
Modification Instructions
1.
Locate the Brown/White vacuum retard delay valve and hose assembly in vacuum line to EGR valve (Figure 1).
