Remove the slip ring and back cover. Figure 7.

Remove the two nuts retaining the damper assembly and remove the damper. Figure 8.
Installation
1.
Install damper on wheel assembly with two nuts. Tighten nuts to 1.6-1.7 N-m (14-15 in.lbs.). Figure 8.
2.
Install back cover and slip ring with three screws. Tighten screws to 0.9-1.1 N-m (8-10 in.lbs.). Figure 7.
3.
Using a new bolt, install wheel assembly on steering column, making sure alignment marks are correct. Tighten bolt to 31-45 N-m (23-33 ft.lbs.).

Connect horn pad wiring connector. If so equipped, install foam insert. Check foam insert and replace if damaged. Figure 5.
