Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
Upper Intake Manifold
4-116 Engine
1.
Remove fuel charging assembly as previously described.
2.
Disconnect engine air cleaner outlet tube from throttle body.
3.
Disconnect throttle position sensor electrical connector from wiring harness.
4.
Disconnect vacuum lines from upper manifold and throttle body.
5.
Disconnect EGR tube from manifold connection.
6.
Disconnect air bypass valve electrical connector, then remove top bolt from manifold upper support bracket.
7.
Remove five upper manifold attaching bolts, then the manifold assembly.
8.
Remove and discard gasket from lower manifold.
9.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque manifold attaching bolts and upper support bracket bolt to 15 - 22 ft. lbs.
b. Lubricate EGR tube compression nut and torque to 29.5 - 40.5 ft. lbs.
c. Torque engine air cleaner outlet tube clamp to 12 - 20 inch lbs.
