Loosen the two (2) studs attaching the catalytic converter to the inlet pipe (CFI engine) or dualpiped manifold (EFI engine) until just 3 or 4 threads
remain inside the nuts, Figures 8 and 9.
2.
With a heavy-duty pair of wire cutters, cut the push-on nuts and throw them away.
3.
Make sure the converter gasket is in the correct position. Torque studs to 21-30 ft.lbs. (28-40 N-m).
