Excursion 2WD V8-5.4L SOHC VIN L (2000)
Mark and remove the four rear driveshaft to transfer case bolts.
5. Note: Wrap electrical tape around the bearing cups to prevent them from falling off the U-joint spider.
Remove the rear driveshaft.

Compress and separate the rear driveshaft from the rear axle then separate the driveshaft from the transfer case.
Installation
1. WARNING: Replace with new bolts and retainers after the third removal.
Note:

Install the rear driveshaft with the index marks aligned.

Prior to the third removal, clean the bolt threads and apply Loctite(R) 242 or equivalent.
Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
