Oil Pump: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

1.
Perform steps 1 thru 4 as described under ``Timing Belt, Replace.''
2.
Remove timing belt from camshaft and crankshaft pulleys and water pump gear.
3.
Raise and support vehicle, then drain engine oil.
4.
Remove crankshaft pulley, then the timing belt. Discard timing belt.
5.
Remove crankshaft drive plate assembly, then the crankshaft pulley and gear.
6.
Disconnect starter electrical connectors, then remove knee brace from engine.
7.
Remove starter, then the rear section of knee brace. Remove transmission inspection plate.
8.
Remove oil pan retaining bolts, then the oil pan.
9.
Remove oil pickup tube brace to cylinder block bolt.
10.
Remove oil pump attaching bolts, oil pump and gaskets, Fig. 21.
11.
Reverse procedure to install using suitable sealant on all pan gaskets.
