Determine if the carburetor is equipped with a "C,, spring (Figure 8). If the carburetor has a "C" spring, install the new choke index plate
(E1PZ-9A539-J): proceed to Note. If the carburetor does not have a "C" spring, install a new choke index plate (E1PZ9A539-H) (Figure 11).
NOTE:
On "C" spring equipped carburetors, the choke breather angle must be checked and adjusted. The choke breather angle is not normally checked
and/or adjusted. The breather angle is not to be confused with choke pulldown, de-choke, or cam set; but is a separate choke function that applies to
"C" spring equipped carburetors only.
Breather Angle Procedure:
a. Place the throttle on high cam position.

b. Close the choke plates by hand and secure closed with a small strong rubber band (Figure 9).
C. Manually open the choke plates to overcome the amount of light closing pressure, do not open choke plate to the point where the bimetal lever
begins to move. Proceed to Step "D".
