Expedition 2WD V8-281 4.6L VIN W EFI (1997)
(1) Position the tie rod.
(2) Install the nut.
(3) Install a new cotter pin.
4. Install the front shock absorber and the two shock absorber lower nuts.
5. Install the upper shock absorber nut.
6. Install the disc brake rotor splash shield.
7. Clean the wheel hub mounting surface.
WARNING: WHEN A WHEEL IS INSTALLED, ALWAYS REMOVE ANY CORROSION, DIRT OR FOREIGN MATERIAL
PRESENT ON THE MOUNTING SURFACES OF THE WHEEL OR THE SURFACE OF THE WHEEL HUB, BRAKE DRUM OR
BRAKE ROTOR THAT CONTACTS THE WHEEL. INSTALLING WHEELS WITHOUT PROPER METAL TO METAL CONTACT
AT THE WHEEL MOUNTING SURFACES CAN CAUSE THE LUG NUTS TO LOOSEN AND THE WHEEL TO COME OFF
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL.
8. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
(1) Position the tire and wheel assembly.
(2) Install the lug nuts and lower the vehicle.
(3) Tighten the lug nuts in sequence.
(4) Install the wheel cover.
NOTE: If equipped with air suspension, reactivate the system by turning on the air suspension switch.
9. Inspect and adjust the front end alignment.
