ACTION
Replace the engine vacuum harness assembly. The revised vacuum harness has a different routing to reduce the possibility of contact with the EGR valve
body (Figures 1 and 2). Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Use Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS) or New Generation Star (NGS) Tester to verify DTC P0455 is present.
2.
Remove the snowshield to access the VMV vacuum supply line and examine it to determine if it has been damaged.
3.
If the harness has been damaged, replace the engine vacuum harness with a new Harness (F75Z-9E498-CE). Refer to Figure 2 for correct harness
routing.
4.
Reinstall the snowshield. Clear DTCs and retest. If the condition persists, refer to the 1997 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED)
Service Manual for additional diagnostics.
