Raise vehicle, ensuring the anti-slip locks are working.
c.
Remove the transmission crossmember, if not already done:
^
1)
Remove the heat shield bolts (one RH and one LH) located on each side of transmission mount. Retain bolts for reassembly.
Leave J-nuts on crossmember.

2)
Remove lower transmission mount nuts located on the under side of the transmission crossmember. Retain nuts for reassembly.
^
3)
Support transmission with appropriate transmission stand/jack.
^
4)
Remove six (6) bolts connecting crossmember to frame rails (three RH and three LH). Make sure when last bolt is removed that
crossmember does not drop. Use appropriate support or second person to hold. Retain bolts and nuts for reassembly.
^
5)
Lower transmission crossmember and place in a safe, out of the way location.
d.
Remove transmission mount:
^
1)
Remove upper half of exhaust pipe hanger bracket clam shell, one bolt on upper surface of clam shell and place them in a safe, out
of the way location
^
2)
Remove two (2) bolts that connect transmission mount to transmission housing. Make sure mount is supported so that mount
and/or exhaust hanger bracket, which is between mount and housing, will not drop when final bolt is removed. Retain bolts for
reassembly. Place removed exhaust hanger bracket in a safe, out of the way location.
e.
Trim RH exhaust pipe hanger rod (double rod welded to exhaust pipe) using a die grinder. Cut rods off at closest spot to the exhaust pipe as
possible without damaging exhaust pipe. Welded tails of the hanger rods can be left on exhaust pipe.
f.
Install transmission mount with new Support Brace (F85Z-5E269-EA). The support brace replaces the removed exhaust hanger bracket.

1)
Retrieve bolts that were used to hold transmission mount in place.
^
2)
Align mount and bracket and insert bolts through the bolt holes and into proper transmission housing holes.
^
3)
Torque bolts to 80 N.m (59 lb-ft).
g.
Install bolt-on hanger rod assembly:
^
1)
Remove nuts from U-bolt hanger rod assembly. Retain nuts for reassembly
^
2)
Slide Rod (F85Z-5B208-AA) into support brace bracket bushing and position saddle of U-bolt on the aft (rear) side of exhaust
pipe.
^
3)
Insert U-bolt into saddle and hand tighten nuts.
h.
Install transmission crossmember:
^
1)
Slide transmission crossmember back into place, between frame rails making sure studs on lower side of transmission mount extend
through lower side of crossmember.
^
2)
Insert six (6) bolts through frame rail and through proper transmission crossmember bolt holes.
^
3)
Place nuts on bolts and tighten to 90 N.m (66 lb-ft).
i.
Reattach heat shields to crossmember (two (2) bolts - one RH and one LH). Bolts need to be aligned with J-nuts on crossmember. Torque
bolts to 15 N.m (11 lb-ft).
j.
Remove the support under the transmission.
k.
Install nuts on lower transmission mount studs and torque to 103 N.m (76 lb-ft).
l.
Adjust U-bolt hanger rod assembly so that there is no binding between it and the pipe. Torque nuts on rod assembly to 40 N.m (30 lb-ft).
m.
Lower hoist and drive vehicle off.
