Oil Pump Drive Inspection And Replacement
Affected Vehicles:
All 1997 Explorer Models equipped with 4.0L SOHC engine built from start of production through February 15,1997 at the ST. Louis and Louisville
Assembly Plants
Visual Inspection of Oil Pump Drive
1.
Install memory saver, then disconnect battery negative cable.
2.
Remove air cleaner outlet tube.
3.
Remove appearance cover from top of intake manifold.
4.
Disengage accelerator and speed control cables from the throttle body and intake manifold. Position cables aside.
