Arming and Disarming
Deactivation Procedure
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control
module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Wait one minute. This is the time required for the air bag diagnostic monitor back up power supply to deplete its stored energy.
3. Remove the driver side air bag module to the steering wheel. Disconnect the driver side air bag module connector. Connect Rotunda Air Bag
Simulator to the vehicle harness at the top of the steering column.
4. Remove the passenger side air bag module. Connect Rotunda Air Bag Simulator to the vehicle harness in place of the passenger side air bag
module.
5. Connect the battery ground cable.
6. Perform the necessary tests.
Reactivation Procedure
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Wait one minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy.
3. Remove Rotunda Air Bag Simulator from vehicle harness connector at top of steering column. Reconnect driver side air bag module.
WARNING: The air bag simulator must be removed and the air bag reconnected when the system is reactivated.
4. Remove the Rotunda Air Bag Simulator from the vehicle harness above the glove compartment. Reconnect the passenger side air bag module.
Install the passenger side air bag module.
5. Connect the battery ground cable.
6. Prove out the system.
