Clean and inspect the remaining parts of the differential case for wear or damage and replace parts as necessary.
CAUTION: Keep clutch packs in order. Do not mix.
5. Clean and inspect the differential clutch packs for wear and replace parts as necessary.
NOTE: Do not use acids or solvents when cleaning the differential clutch pack. Wipe components with a clean, lint-free cloth only.
6. Assemble the (A) differential clutch packs, without the (B) shims, on the respective (C) differential side gears.
CAUTION: All new friction plates must be soaked in additive friction modifier C8AZ-19B546-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification
EST-M2C118-A for a minimum of 15 minutes prior to assembling the clutch packs.
NOTE: Do not mix the differential clutch packs or shims from one side with the other.
7. Place the base portion of Traction-Lok Clutch Gauge in a vise.
NOTE: Use Traction-Lok Clutch Gauge mandrel for the procedure.
