Explorer 2WD V6-4.0L VIN K (2007)
CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of
the power steering components can result.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Release the fluid cooler hose clamp and disconnect the hose from the fluid reservoir.
3. Remove the LH front splash shield screws, pin-type retainers and the splash shield.
4. Remove the lower radiator air deflector pushpins and the air deflector.
5. Remove the 2 fluid cooler hose braces.
6. Remove the fluid cooler hose bracket bolt.

To install, tighten to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
7. Remove the steering line clamp plate nut.

To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
8. Rotate the steering line clamp plate and disconnect the fluid cooler return line from the steering gear.

Discard the O-ring seal.
9. Remove the power steering fluid cooler.
10. NOTE: New O-ring seals must be installed whenever the steering lines are disconnected.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Fill the power steering system.
