ISSUE:
A "Roaring" Noise may be heard from the engine cooling fan during cold start up. This may be caused by a fan clutch that is fully engaged during start
up.
ACTION:
Install a new improved fan clutch that does not fully engage at start-up. Refer to the following service procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Confirm that the fan is causing the noise at start-up, by listening for the "roaring" noise coming from the engine area.
2.
Replace the fan clutch. Refer to the 1992 Light Truck Engine Service Manual, Section 03-05, for service details.
3.
Start the vehicle. Verify the noise is corrected.
