Explorer 4WD V6-4.0L VIN E (1999)
1. Position the oil pan and gasket and install the ten retaining bolts.
NOTE: All sealing surfaces must be cleaned prior to assembly. Use metal surface cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford
specification WSE-MSB392-A to clean the sealing surfaces.
2. Install the oil pan plug and refill the engine oil.

Use engine oil meeting Ford specification WSE-M2C903-A.
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive
strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
