LOWER VALANCE COMING LOOSE
FORD:
2011 Explorer
ISSUE
Some 2011 Explorer vehicles may experience the lower valance popping out of the retention clips at either end. This may be due to the valance coming
into contact with an obstacle such as a parking block, snow or sand while parking and then being popped loose when backing up.
ACTION
Follow service procedure to correct condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Reattach the valance to the lower fascia/bumper cover.
2. Drill 2, 6.3 mm (1/4") holes in each side of the lower valance panel. (Figure 1, D).
a. Use a scratch awl or center punch to indent the plastic to prevent the drill bit from walking, or use a 1.5 mm (1/16") drill bit to drill a pilot hole.
