POWER LUMBAR BLADDER EXPANDING THROUGH BACK OF SEAT

ISSUE
Some 2003-2004 Explorer Sport Trac and 2003 Explorer Sport 2dr vehicles may exhibit a power lumbar bladder pushing out the back of the seat when
inflated.
ACTION
To service, install a lumbar support board in the rear of the seat back between the metal cross member on the frame and the lumbar bladder. The board
must be installed exactly as outlined in the following Service Procedure to be completely effective.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Cycle seat track to full forward position in vehicle to access back of seat assembly.
2.
Set seat to full upright position.
3.
Release air from bladder using the lumbar switch (fully deflate lumbar support).
4.
Using flathead screw driver, pry the "J"-retainer apart on the bottom of seat back cover (Figure 1).
