Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation
WARNING: Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If
brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink
water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.
CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with
water.
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
3. Disconnect the brake lines from the hydraulic control unit (HCU).
4. Remove the HCU.

Remove the bolts

Remove the HCU.
5. If necessary, remove the anti-lock brake control module.
6. CAUTION: After the electronic hydraulic control unit is installed, it is necessary to bleed the hydraulic brake system.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms can occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive
strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi.) or more to relearn the strategy.
