The AOD transmission case will also be changed removing the drainback hole in the case casting. Refer to Figure 17 for the location of the case
drainback hole. The hole allowed transmission fluid in the pump area to drainback to the oil pan. Instead, the notched gasket will provide a path for the
fluid to vent at a higher point into the case.
For service, the transmission service case will be changed to the new level which deletes the drainback hole. The service case is interchangeable for all
model years and all AOD applications.
The new notched pump gasket can be used on both type transmission cases. However, the original design gasket cannot be used on the new level case
which has the drainback hole deleted since there is no provision for drainback of transmission fluid with this combination of parts.
Service stock with the original design front pump gasket may be used on a case with no drainback hole; modify the gasket as follows:
