Idle Speed: Adjustments
Curb Idle Speed

CURB IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT

Place the transmission in Neutral (manual) or Park (automatic).

Bring engine to normal operating temperature (upper radiator hose hot).

Place A/C Heat selector to "OFF" (if equipped).

Disconnect and plug vacuum hose to thermactor air bypass valve (manual transmission only).

Place the transmission in the specified gear. See: Specifications
Without Automatic Overdrive
With Automatic Overdrive

Check curb idle rpm. Adjust to specification. See: Specifications

Place the transmission in Neutral (manual) or Park (automatic). Rev the engine momentarily. Place the transmission in specified position, and
recheck curb idle rpm. Readjust if required.

Remove plug from vacuum hose to thermactor air bypass valve and reconnect (manual transmission only).
