Removal 

All vehicles 

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. 
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. 
3. Remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet pipe and resonator. 
4. Remove the generator. 
5. Remove the bolts and position the cooling fan shroud away from the radiator.

6. Install the special tools.

7. Remove the 4 exhaust manifold-to-catalytic converter nuts.

8. Remove the exhaust system support bracket bolts from the crossmember.
