Axle Housing Removal
1.
With the vehicle in neutral, position it on a hoist. (Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-02)
2.
Remove the vehicle rear tires and wheels.
3.
Remove the axle assembly from the vehicle. (WSM, Section 205-02B)
4.
Remove the differential carrier from the axle housing. (WSM, Section 205-02B)
5.
Lower the axle assembly from the vehicle and position it in a suitable fixture.
6.
Remove the axle shaft. WSM, Section 205-02B in vehicle service Step 5-77.
7.
Remove the differential case and Ring Gear. (WSM, Section 205-02B)
8.
Remove the Pinion from the axle housing. (WSM, Section 205-02B Steps 9-14 for removal)
Axle Re-assembly
1.
Install the pinion gear in the housing. (WSM, Section 205-02B2)
2.
Install the differential case and ring gear. (WSM, Section 205-02B)
3.
Check the gear pattern on the ring gear (Diagnosis and Testing, WSM, Section 205-02B)
4.
Install the axle shaft. (WSM, Section 205-02B)
5.
Raise the axle assembly back into the vehicle.
6.
Install the axle assembly back in the vehicle. (WSM, Section 205-02B)
7.
Install the vehicles rear tires and wheels.
8.
Install axle fluid in to the housing.
