Attachment III - Technical Information
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Raise vehicle on a hoist. Remove the left front wheel and tire assembly, then position a drain pan under the caliper.
2.
Unbolt the brake hose from the left front brake caliper. See Figure 1.
3.
Disconnect the brake hose from the steel line at the upper brake hose bracket. See Figure 1.
4.
Unbolt the upper and lower brake hose brackets from the vehicle and remove the brake hose from the vehicle. See Figure 1.
5.
Position the new brake hose on the vehicle and install the upper and lower brake hose bracket bolts. Tighten the bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
6.
Connect the brake hose to the steel line at the upper brake hose bracket and tighten the line nut to 17 Nm (13 lb-ft).
7.
Position the new brake hose on the caliper and install a new bolt with two (2) new copper washers. Tighten the bolt to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
WARNING
USE OF ANYTHING OTHER THAN APPROVED DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID FROM A SEALED CONTAINER WILL CAUSE
PERMANENT DAMAGE TO BRAKE COMPONENTS AND RENDER THE BRAKES INOPERATIVE.
WARNING
BRAKE FLUID CONTAINS POLYGLYCOL ETHERS AND POLYGLYCOLS. AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES. WASH HANDS
THOROUGHLY AFTER HANDLING. IF BRAKE FLUID CONTACTS EYES, FLUSH EYES WITH RUNNING WATER FOR 15
MINUTES. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IF IRRITATION PERSISTS. IF TAKEN INTERNALLY, DRINK WATER AND INDUCE
VOMITING. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.
CAUTION
Do not allow the brake master cylinder reservoir to run dry during the bleeding operation. Keep the brake master cylinder reservoir filled with
the specified brake fluid. Never reuse the brake fluid that has been drained from the hydraulic system.
CAUTION
Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.
8.
Bleed the left front caliper and brake hose in the following manner:

Attach a rubber drain hose to the caliper bleeder screw and submerge the free end of the tube in a container partially filled with clean brake
fluid.
