Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Disassembly and Assembly
DISASSEMBLY:

Remove the front disc brake caliper; refer to Brake Caliper service and repair section.

Drain the remaining brake fluid from the front disc brake caliper.

Secure the disc brake caliper in a vise.
Front Disc Brake Caliper Piston Removal

Remove the caliper pistons.

Place a block of wood between the caliper bridge and the caliper pistons.

Apply low air pressure to the fluid port in the disc brake caliper.

Force out the caliper pistons to the block of wood.
4
Remove the block of wood and the caliper pistons.
Front Disc Brake Caliper, Pistons, Seals And Dust Boots

Remove and discard the piston seals and boots.
Disc Brake Caliper Assembly

If the front disc brake caliper is leaking, replace the piston seals. If the cylinder bores are excessively scored or corroded, replace the front disc
brake caliper.

NOTE: Do not hone the cylinder bores. Pistons are not available for honed cylinder bores.
