Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair
Rear Drum
Parking Brake Rear Cable And Conduit
REMOVAL:
-
Relieve the tension on the parking brake system.
NOTE: Make sure the parking brake control is fully released.

Pull the front parking brake cable and conduit.

Insert a suitable retainer.

Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO
HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN. BE ACCOMPLISHED BY
TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE RH KICK PANEL AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO
MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN
SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.

Remove the rear brake drums; refer to section on Drum Brakes.
Parking Brake Cable Equalizer

Disconnect the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the parking brake cable equalizer.
