NOISE - "WHISTLE" WHILE DRIVING WITH BLOWER MOTOR OPERATING - VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH 1/20/96
LIGHT TRUCK:
1997 F-150
ISSUE:
A "whistle" noise, while driving or idling with the blower motor operating, may be heard on some vehicles. This may be due to a seam leak on the upper
plenum assembly case half.
ACTION:
Seal the seam leak area with rope sealer. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Verify the whistle concern by operating the blower motor and rolling down a window. If the whistle goes away, then the noise is due to a body
leak and should be diagnosed accordingly. If the whistle remains, proceed to Step 2.
2.
Remove the plenum assembly by referring to the 1997 F-150 Service Manual, Page 412-03-20.
